What is Naturopathic Medicine

      

Also called Naturopathy is a medical system that has evolved from a combination of traditional practices and health care approaches popular in Europe during the 19th century.

 “Naturopathy” as the name suggests, is a branch of medicine that believes that our body holds the cure for any ailment. It focuses on the body’s inherent ability to heal itself without the intervention of any external force. And to unlock the body’s healing potential, a person must first & foremost change his/her lifestyle and habits and believe that the body can be repaired by doing natural remedies.

  1. ‘Do NO Harm’ ( Primum non nocere )

Is one of the main principles followed by Naturopathic Doctors/Practitioners. It suggests that naturopathic doctors select treatments or therapies that are gentle, appropriate and possibly non-invasive. Naturopathic doctors guide you in making the right lifestylechoices to bring your health back to its original state

 

2.Healing Power of Nature ( Vis medicatrix naturae )

Research suggest that nature can affect an individual’s health positively and has the ability to heal by itself. In the field of Naturopathy, all the treatment modalities are based on nature’s mechanism ensuring no side effects and long term benefits can be attained

 

3. Treat the Cause ( tolle causam )

Naturopathic Doctors/Practitioners goal is not just to attend to the symptoms of the condition but explain to the patient to thoroughly understand and identify the illness’ or condition’s root cause. The treatment protocol would be based on the person as a whole

 

4. Treat the Whole person ( tolle totum )

Naturopaths completely understand the connections of our bodies based on the food we eat and our lifestyles. The whole-person-based health program approach will assist the naturopaths to identify the condition’s root cause
